During my trip to Ahrenshoop, I stayed at Haus am Meer. It was a great choice! For a full breakdown of my hotel experience, read the review below.
DOG FRIENDLINESS
My dog was very welcome here. When I arrived, the receptionist already knew that I had a pup with me and asked about her. Later, she told me that she used to have up to five Jack Russell Terriers on her farm in South Africa! Awesome.
THE LOCATION
As the name suggests, the hotel is right next to the sea. You can reach one of the entrances to the beach in just a couple of minutes. There are a number of restaurants nearby.
For exploring Ahrenshoop, I thought the hotel was in an ideal location. If you are looking for things to do in the area, do check out my post on our trip to Ahrenshoop.
THE ROOM

I chose a room with a terrace so that I could easily take my dog out whenever needed.
As I stayed there in early March, it was a bit too cold to spend extended time on the terrace, but I imagine that it is lovely during late spring and summer.
The room itself was very pleasant. It was quite spacious and came equipped with a large, comfortable bed, a large closet, a desk with a chair, a TV and even a fridge. Very convenient!

There was also a separate seating area with two very cozy chairs. Of course, my dog claimed one of those chairs as her own as soon as we arrived. As you can tell, she loved it!
The bathroom was also in good condition, with enough counter space next to the sink to leave all my belongings. A hairdryer as well as toiletries were available free of charge, which was nice.
Moreover, there were plenty of sockets and the windows had black-out curtains so it was possible to get the room quite dark. This is important to me, as my dog wakes up very early when the sunlight comes into the room.
Lastly, I was pleased that it was very quiet in the room. This helped both of us really rest and relax.
THE SERVICE
The service at the hotel was great. I arrived very early, so my room was not ready. The receptionist offered to phone when it was made up, and I ended up being able to check in two hours before the usual time.
During check-in, the receptionist explained the area and gave me a bunch of helpful information about restaurants and other things nearby.

I asked whether I could have breakfast in the room so that I would not need to leave my dog alone for too long, and this was not a problem at all.
I received a tray with a pot of coffee and was able to take anything that I wanted from the buffet back to my room.
Super yummy!
Another nice detail was that there were two water bottles available in the room that could be filled with still or sparkling water free of charge. Tea, coffee as well as a kettle were also available in the room. Great service!
THE VALUE
For two nights, I ended up paying 248 EUR, which included a nice breakfast, on-site parking, the tourist tax as well as the extra costs for my dog. I greatly enjoyed my stay, but still: At significantly more than 100 EUR per night, this stay was certainly on the expensive side. However, it was a fantastic, comfortable stay in a great location. So my conclusion is: This was value for money!
THE BOTTOM LINE
I can wholeheartedly recommend staying in Haus am Meer with a dog. I would rate my stay there as a solid 5 out of 5. So if you’re ever looking to take a trip with your dog to the Darß region, don’t hesitate to book a room there!
