This April, I took a trip with my dog to Hyères, a town at the Mediterranean sea in the south of France in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.
I chose Hyères as my base because I wanted to visit the Île de Porquerolles with my dog and it was a great choice. Aside from Porquerolles island, there are plenty of other things to do in and around Hyères with your dog.
During our time there, we stayed at an apartment that we found on booking.com. I have to honest, I was not sure about the place. It was non-refundable and the text said that we would have to pay a 300 EUR security deposit, but in the end I needn’t have worried. There was no deposit and the place was great!
I can definitely recommend staying here with your dog. For a full breakdown of my experience, read the review below.
DOG FRIENDLINESS
My dog was overall welcome here. When I met the owner to pick up the keys, he directly asked where my dog was and encouraged me to bring her along into the apartment.
THE LOCATION

The apartment is located directly at the port of Hyères and has a great way towards the port and the sea.
There is a small park right in front and it is close to a bakery, a supermarket as well as multiple restaurants along the promenade at the harbor.
It also comes with a private parking spot which we found extremely helpful.
THE APARTMENT
The room was extremely nice. I was very pleasantly surprised. It is laid out very thoughtfully, and although it is not big, it could fit for people and a dog comfortably.
There is a large double bed that you can roll into and out of a holding area, so during the day it can serve as a couch and you have more space in the apartment. On top of the holding area of the double bed, but separated by a wall section that can be opened or closed are two single beds. It might sound confusing but it’s hard to explain. The gist of it is that you can basically create two separate bedrooms that sleep two people each, but during the day you can use the living room without having any bed in the way. So smart!

There is also a large dining table with four chairs and a TV in the living room. On the terrace, there are two small tables with another four chairs, so you can also have your meals outside. I very much enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace in the sun. If the sun is too much for you, there is also a sun umbrella available to provide comfortable shade.
The apartment also features a kitchen with a stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, fridge, dishwasher, and also: A washing machine. Super convenient if you are planning to stay for a longer time or are visiting multiple destinations back-to-back. I very much enjoyed having access to a kitchen and being able to make some healthier and lighter meals with lots of veggies.

The bathroom is a little small but has everything that you need, including a hairdryer.
THE SERVICE
Since this is an apartment, there is no service as such. However, I did still feel like I had some service, as the owner was very friendly and helpful. He took the time to explain absolutely everything about the apartment and the area during check-in. He pointed out where I could find which shops and restaurants in the area and showed me all the features of the apartment. There was even a cake waiting for me as a welcome gift!
THE VALUE
For three nights, I ended up paying roughly 246 EUR plus a 20 EUR cleaning charge. I consider this amazing value. Less than 100 EUR per night for a great apartment in a top location? With private parking? Sign me up! Absolutely worth it.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Overall, I found the apartment to be extremely comfortable. It was definitely worth taking the risk of booking a non-refundable place and I can 100% recommend staying here. There is no doubt: This one is a 5/5.
