Where to stay near Barcelona with a dog

Recently, I’ve been on a road trip to Spain with my dog and we needed a place to stay overnight in the Barcelona area because I needed a break from driving.

We ended up staying at Augusta Barcelona Valles which turned out to be a great choice.

If you are looking for a place to stay overnight near Barcelona, I can definitely recommend this hotel with your dog. For a full breakdown of my experience, read the review below.

DOG FRIENDLINESS

My dog was definitely welcome here. I usually check in first and take her box up to the room and then get her from the car so that she directly feels at home when she enters.

During check-in, I was immediately asked about her and also informed that she was welcome in the restaurant. Up to two dogs are allowed to join their owners there, so a reservation is recommended. Alternatively, you can also sit on the terrace with your dog.

THE LOCATION

The apartment is located directly off the highway AP-7, so as you can imagine there is nothing much nearby aside from an industrial area. However, for us it was just meant as a stop between two longer drives, so we found this convenient. There is a parking lot directly at the hotel.

Please note: If you plan to visit Barcelona itself with your dog, this is not a good location. It is quite a bit outside the city and it would take you over an hour to reach the centre by car. However, it is near the waterpark for dogs, so if you come during the summer time you can take your pup there for some fun in the water. Unfortunately we went a bit too early in the year, as they only open in mid May.

THE ROOM

The room was very nice. It featured a large double bed as well as a comfortable desk and chair, which I always appreciate for working or eating in the room. There was also a minibar fridge. The bathroom was also spacious and comfortable, with a hairdryer provided. Moreover, the view from the hotel was very nice, especially during sunset.

In addition, the hotel has a pool which was open already and it certainly felt great to cool down in the pool after a long drive. There is also a gym in the hotel, but I did not use this.

THE SERVICE

I found the service to be outstanding. I called on the day I was supposed to arrive to ask about scheduling a massage.

I was informed that unfortunately massages need to be scheduled with 48 hours notice and nobody would be there today, but the receptionist promised me to try and find a solution and asked me to call back a bit later. Two hours later, I got the good news that they were able to find someone to come in with a mobile massage table to give me a massage in the room. What a service!

The massage was terrific, so if you need to relax your muscles after a long drive, call with enough notice and ask for German as your massage therapist. You will not regret it!

In addition, the hotel had luggage carts available which is always great for me since I tend to carry a lot of stuff for my dog, and room service is available for most of the day. I had a pizza and it was delicious.

Absolutely anything I could have wished for and more was possible or made possible by the staff. Massage? Food in the room? Take your dog to the restaurant? Sit outside on the terrace for breakfast? No problem. Fantastic!

THE VALUE

At this hotel, I paid a shockingly low 71 EUR for one night, which I think is great value for a hotel with great service and facilities including a pool near a large city such as Barcelona. The breakfast was also good and reasonably priced, as was the room service food.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Overall, this hotel was great value. I don’t have any suggestion for improvement at all. It was a fabulous, relaxing stay after a long day. I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to hit the road again. As an overnight stop, it’s a 5/5 without a doubt. However if you want to actually visit the city of Barcelona, look for something more central!
