A trip with my dog to Narbonne beach (France)

This April, I took a spontaneous trip with my dog to Narbonne beach in France. I made this decision because I was looking at places in our area where dogs are allowed on the beach.

It turns out that dogs are welcome on Narbonne beach for most of the year, except from May 1st until September 30th. So if you travel outside the high season, you can have some beach fun there with your pup!

If you are looking to spend a night or two near Narbonne beach, you may be interested in where to stay with your dog in St-Pierre-la-mer. I can recommend the apartment that I stayed at, but there are a few caveats. Should you wish to spend more time there, I would suggest looking for a different option.

HOW TO VISIT NARBONNE BEACH WITH YOUR DOG

Thankfully, visiting Narbonne beach with your dog is really easy. If you are not staying overnight, you can park very near the beach without problems as there is a large parking lot available. You can park there for free for multiple hours with a parking disk.

Please keep in mind that dogs are not welcome on the beach between May 1st and September 30th, but any other time of the year you can ignore the signs that say “no dogs” and take your pup onto the “plage” without issues.

The harbour is about 3km from the parking lot.

The beach at Narbonne is very wide, which means plenty of space for your furry friend to play without bothering any human beach goers. It is also quite long, you can probably walk for about 6km along the beach. Nice right?

Along the way, you’ll pass the harbour, which is small but cute.

HOW LONG IT TAKES AND WHO IT’S FOR

You can spend as little or as much time as you want on the beach. We probably stayed for around an hour for a nice walk, some digging and a bath. My pup loved it!

She even full-on went into the Mediterranean sea for the first time, including a bit of swimming.

As the beach is flat, this trip is great for almost anyone and you can do as much or as little walking as you want while giving your dog a chance to play in the sand and the sea.

THE BOTTOM LINE

During the time of year that dogs are allowed on the beach, this is a nice place to take your furry companion. The beach is long and wide with plenty of space to run and play. If you’re in the area, why not take a weekend trip to Narbonne with your dog?
