Recently, I spent a week with my dog in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer in the Camargue region of France. I stayed at this apartment, which was a good choice! For a full breakdown of my hotel experience, read the review below.
DOG FRIENDLINESS
My dog was very welcome here. There was no surcharge applied.
THE LOCATION

The property is located in a great place. Just down the road, you have access to a trail that leads through the salines as well as towards the dike where the dog beach is located. Perfect for walks with the pup!
It is also close to the center of the town, around 10 minutes walk to a supermarket and around 15 minutes away from the main square with little shops and restaurants.
There is free parking right in front. For me, the location was optimal.
THE APARTMENT
The apartment was overall well equipped.
One thing I did not realize before booking is that the bedroom had no windows, just a small interior window towards the living area for some ventilation. Not a dealbreaker, but not the best setup.
Other than that, everything we needed was there, including a dishwasher and a washing machine, which came in handy for a longer stay.

Unfortunately, the apartment was also not the cleanest. Some of the pillows and blankets provided had quite significant stains and there was also a rather dubious looking sponge in the kitchen. I let the host know about it, so hopefully that will be fixed for the next person. The towels were also quite worn out and hard.
However, the apartment really scored with its location and terrace. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the sun during the day.
THE SERVICE
The apartment was self-service, but the host did meet me for the check-in and explained everything, which was nice. She was also very responsive and kind during my stay, so that was much appreciated.
THE VALUE
For five nights, I ended up paying 446 EUR, which is not exactly cheap but for the great location and overall good equipment I thought it was rather fair. I enjoyed my stay here, and even with the caveats around cleanliness I would come back here again, because the location is really optimal for a trip with the dog.
THE BOTTOM LINE
I can recommend staying at this apartment with your dog. My pup loved going for walks around the salines and along the dike, and having that within a few minutes of the apartment is priceless. Still, I can’t give it full marks. I would rate my stay there as a solid 4 out of 5. So if you’re ever looking to take a trip with your dog to the Camargue region, this apartment is a good option to consider!
