In September 2023, I took a trip with my dog to the Devil’s Bridge (also known Rakotzbrücke) which is located in Kromlau near the border between Poland and Germany.
If you are in the area, stopping at the Rakotzsee lake is highly recommended. While the area is not very large, the bridge as well as the surrounding area it is quite beautiful and makes for a nice walk with your dog.
HOW TO GET THERE
The best way to visit the Rakotzbrücke is by car. There is a paid car park right across the road from the lake Rakotzsee where you can also find a restroom. Be careful when crossing the road towards the park as cars drive fast there.
THE ROUTE
We only took a short walk around the lake to take a look at the Devil’s Bridge. It took ten years to build the arch which is mostly made from basalt. It is really a unique formation of stones and very picturesque. See for yourself!
My dog also took the opportunity to have a quick drink from the lake – if she hadn’t been on the leash I’m sure she would have jumped right in.

HOW LONG IT TAKES AND WHO IT’S FOR
We spent around half an hour walking around the lake as we just made a quick stop on our way to the Muskau Park to have a look at the bridge. There are some hiking routes nearby, so if you want to make a longer stop there are definitely some options as well. The park with the bridge was easily accessible for everyone.
THE BOTTOM LINE
The Devil’s Bridge was a nice place to visit with my dog. It is quite pretty and unique, so if you are in the area, I would definitely suggest making at least a quick stop here.
