Where to stay in Hohnstein in Saxon Switzerland with a dog

In September 2023, I took a short trip with my dog to Hohnstein in Saxon Switzerland (Sächsische Schweiz). During this trip I went on a hike to the Herkulessäulen and also visited the famous Brand viewpoint (Brandaussicht). I stayed at this hotel, which was an excellent choice for my stay. DOG FRIENDLINESS

My dog was very welcome here. There was no surcharge applied.

THE LOCATION

In my view, the hotel is in an optimal location if you are keen to visit the Brandaussicht panorama or go on other hikes near Hohnstein. The hiking trails start right behind the hotel and are perfect for walks with your dog.

THE ROOM

The room was quite nice, with a large bed, an armchair and a desk. There was also a fridge which I always find convenient when traveling, and a free bottle of water was also provided. The bed in particular was very comfortable, I slept great. The room was also relatively spacious.

THE SERVICE

The service was very nice at this hotel. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a glass of sparkling wine, which was a really nice touch.

Both dinner (buffet style) and breakfast were included in the rate. While both was not of the absolute highest quality, dinner in particular was much appreciated after a long day of hiking and there was no issue with taking both meals up to the room.

THE VALUE

For one night, I paid 73 euros here. At this price, I would say the value was truly excellent. The hotel is in a great location, parking is free of charge and breakfast and dinner were already included in the rate. Add to that the nice welcome and comfortable bed? Can’t beat that.

THE BOTTOM LINE

In terms of overall value, this hotel was one of the best that I’ve stayed at with my dog. It was a comfortable stay all around and I would certainly return. A very clear 5 out of 5!
