In March of 2024, I took a trip with my dog to visit Cassis and the Calanques area. I had previously been to the Sentier du Petit Prince, so this time we chose to hike through the Calanque de Port-Miou towards Port Pin and finally the beach at the Calanque d’En-Vau.
If you need a place to stay with your dog in Cassis, I can recommended the apartment that we stayed at. You can find my review here.
THE ROUTE
If you come by car, you can park at this parking lot but beware that it is paid and costs 10 euros for the day. On this occasion, we simply walked from the apartment.
The hike properly starts at the Calanque de Port-Miou. Take the path towards towards the Calanque de Port Pin and enjoy the views of the little harbour right in the calanque. Follow the signs to the Calanque d’En-Vau where you encounter a perfect rest point right at a little beach. When we came there in March, it was not very busy and felt very relaxing.

After a break at the beach, we continued a little further to get absolutely stunning panoramic views of the Calanques area. So worth it!

We could have continued further but we decided to head back because even in March it was quite warm and we did not want to overdo it.
HOW LONG IT TAKES AND WHO IT’S FOR

The Calanques are a beautiful area to explore although the terrain is not the easiest. Make sure to wear proper shoes and be prepared for rocky paths and walking up and downhill.
I would not recommend this hike in the heat of summer. Do make sure that you bring enough water for yourself and your pup as the hike can be a bit strenuous for both of you.
We probably took one of the easier routes and spent around 2 hours in the Calanques. If you want to go further, there were other hiking routes continuing from the Calanque d’En-Vau but for us this shorter route was already enough.
THE BOTTOM LINE
This is a nice hike to take with your dog in the Calanques area. The views are gorgeous and well worth the effort, but do come prepared so that you can both enjoy it fully.
