Where to stay in Valencia with a dog

In 2022, I took a trip to Valencia with my dog. During our visit, we stayed in this hotel which was almost a bad choice but then redeemed itself and turned out ok.

For a full breakdown of my hotel experience in Valencia, read the review below.

DOG FRIENDLINESS

Well… When I booked this hotel through booking.com, it said that it was pet friendly. I booked it some time in advance and only at very short notice when I could no longer cancel the reservation for free did they send me a message that included an enormous amount of rules for bringing a dog. There was also a hefty fee associated, and at this point it did not feel dog friendly to me at all.

I called them to explain the situation and asked to cancel the reservation free of charge since I would prefer to stay in a friendlier establishment, but they denied my request and also assured me it would be fine to bring the dog.

In the end, I have to say this was one of the dog friendliest hotels that I have been in.

When we entered the room, there were two food bowls, a treat and even a dog bed waiting for us! Getting a bed for the dog is extra rare, I have experienced this very few times so far.

So yes, this hotel is in fact very dog friendly, although they try hard to appear otherwise and I would highly recommend them to adjust their messaging.

THE LOCATION

The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect for exploring Valencia on foot. This was the main reason that I chose it as well.

Beware if you are coming by car: There is a gigantic roundabout with probably 7 or so lanes just near the hotel. I found it very confusing and difficult to navigate, it took a few times until I managed to safely take the right exit. Also, the entrance to the parking was difficult to find – it is actually in a side street roughly here.

Once you’re there however, it is excellent. The hotel is right next to the City of Arts and Sciences (Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciènces) and the Turia Gardens park. I could not think of a better location to explore the heart of Valencia. You can read more about it here.

THE ROOM

The room was very comfortable.

As you saw above, it has a large desk with a chair, an extra armchair and of course a nice large bed for the humans as well in addition to the one for the dog.

The bathroom was nice too, unfortunately I did not take a picture.

THE SERVICE

I would rate the service as medium. Given the initially questionable dog friendliness, I would have appreciated an accommodation of canceling for free. When I first arrived and explained that I had not been able to find the parking entrance, the clerk reacted more amused than helpful. I can’t imagine that I was the first one to have this issue and a map or similar would have been appreciated. Especially in such an expensive hotel, the service should be first class.

THE VALUE

We ended up paying 130 EUR for one night, plus 30 EUR for the dog as well 17 EUR for the parking and 17 EUR for the breakfast as well.

To be fair, the breakfast was nice, but it really adds up.

Yes, the hotel is in a great location, but overall this really made for an expensive stay. For that price, I would expect exceptional service.

THE BOTTOM LINE

This is an ok place to stay with your dog in Valencia. Based on location alone, this would be a clear 5 out of 5, but I do need to deduct points for the friction both before and during the stay. Overall, I’m afraid it’s only a 3 out of 5 for me. I would look for another option next time that I’m in Valencia.
