Back in spring of 2022, I first went to Riquewihr in Alsace with my dog. We enjoyed our time there so much that we decided to come back in again in the fall of 2023 to see experience it in a different season. And it was fabulous again!
In this article, I will tell you about a short walk along the GéoVino winetrail in Riquewihr.

THE ROUTE
This walk starts at post office in Riquewihr. Next to the post there is a parking lot, so if you are coming by car you can park there as well.
From there, you want to take the little path up into the vineyards right here and you will find yourself right on the trail. It is mostly well sign-posted.
The GéoVino Trail takes you through the vineyards of Riquewihr. Every once in a while you will also find explanations about the wine making process, the soil, and other interesting tidbits.
What we enjoyed the most about this route is definitely the views though. I highly recommend doing this hike near sunset, as it will be truly beautiful. The pictures don’t even do it justice.
HOW LONG IT TAKES AND WHO IT’S FOR
This is a short walk of just around one hour. While there is a bit of up and down, it is mostly a gentle stroll. Do be careful on the stairs in wet or wintry conditions as they can be very slippery – I speak from painful experience.
THE BOTTOM LINE
This is a nice, gentle walk to take with your dog in Riquewihr. It is perfect during sunset for some excellent views of the village and the surrounding vineyards. Highly recommended!
