In the fall of 2022, I took a trip with my dog to Denmark. During this vacation, we visited the white chalk cliffs of Stevns (known locally as Stevns Klint) on the island of Zealand.
If you are considering to take a trip to Denmark with your dog, you may also be interested in my review of traveling by ferry from Rostock in Germany to Gedser in Denmark with a dog. I can also recommend the hotel that we stayed at in Præstø which is not far from Stevns Klint. If you are in the area, you may also enjoy a trip to the fascinating Faxe Kalkbrud limestone quarry with your dog.
In this article, I will tell you all about our visit to the Stevns cliffs.
THE ROUTE

We parked at the old church in Højerup. The parking is paid, I believe it cost 50DKK when we visited.
Both the old and the new church in Højerup are interesting to see as they were built with limestone that were mined right from Stevns Klint many years ago.
From Højerup, it is only a short walk to the Stevns cliffs. Do you see the distinct vertical lines on the cliffs? A clear sign that stones were mined here.

You can follow a walking trail along the cliffs to see this natural spectacle from different perspectives. My pup certainly had a lot of fun during this walk.

If you don’t mind stairs, you can of course also go down to the beach and see the Stevns cliffs from below. Pretty cool!
HOW LONG IT TAKES AND WHO IT’S FOR
We only had a short stop here, spending around one hour walking around Højerup and the Stevns cliffs. If you fancy a longer walk along the cliffs you can walk all the from Rødvig Havn to Bøgeskov Havn which is around 20km long.
THE BOTTOM LINE
The white chalk cliffs were definitely worth a visit with my dog. If you are traveling through Zealand with your dog, I do recommend making a short stop at Stevns Klint.
