In 2022, I took a trip with my dog to Denmark. We came by ferry from Rostock in Germany to Gedser in Denmark and eventually made our way from Zealand over to Jutland, visiting different places on the way.
For one night, we stayed in this hotel in Fredericia which was a decent choice. If you are visiting Fredericia, I recommend taking a trip to Himmelbjerget as well, which has gorgeous views and many hiking routes you can take with your dog.

DOG FRIENDLINESS
My dog was welcome here but there was a pretty hefty surcharge applied, I think it was around 250 DKK. Definitely one of the more expensive ones I have encountered.
THE LOCATION
The hotel was near a stadium and what seemed like a convention centre. Honestly we just stayed here for one night because it was convenient in terms of our route.

There was however a small park area right behind the hotel which had a small surprise in store for us.
You can see a miniature model of the town of Fredericia how it was in 1849. It is built at a scale of 1:10 and looks quite cute.
If you are coming with children, do also take a look at the Madsby Legepark. It offers many activities, is free of charge and dogs on a leash are allowed.
THE ROOM
I would describe the room as functional more than anything. The large bed was quite comfortable, but other than that it left a bit to be desired. The bathroom in particular was very cramped.

I even had to ask for a hoover because there were some crumbs of biscuits left in a shelf from a previous guest, which my dog of course tried to eat right away. Compared to other Best Western location that I’ve stayed at, this one was disappointing.
THE SERVICE
As I mentioned, unfortunately the cleanliness left something to be desired.

To their credit, the reception staff immediately got a hoover and helped me clean up the crumbs. No waiting for housekeeping and bonus points for the proactivity.
Honestly though, this should not happen in the first place.
The breakfast had a decent amount of choice, including fresh fruit and vegetables.
THE VALUE
We ended up paying 100 EUR for one night, plus around 30 EUR surcharge for the dog. In general, Denmark is on the expensive side when it comes to hotels, but I still thought this was not good value when looking at everything. At least the parking lot was free of charge!
THE BOTTOM LINE
Overall, I would not choose this hotel again. Nothing super bad, but I do think that there are better places in terms of value for money, even in Denmark. I’m afraid I can’t give it more than a 3 out of 5.
