In 2022, I took a trip with my dog to Denmark. We came by ferry from Rostock in Germany to Gedser in Denmark and eventually made our way from Zealand over to Jutland and Funen, visiting different places on the way.
We also spent a couple of days on the island of Nyord, where we stayed in this holiday home which was a decent choice. If you are visiting Nyord, I recommend taking a trip to the Møns Klint cliffs as well.

DOG FRIENDLINESS
My dog was very welcome here. The elderly hosts who live right next door were so excited to meet her and gave her treats right away. She also had free run of the garden, which was very kind of the hosts.
THE LOCATION
The typical old home is located on the island of Nyord just near the port. It is allowed to drive here by car if you are staying in the holiday home. The place is surrounded by beautiful nature, with plenty of spaces to walk your dog.

The entire area felt vast and reminiscent of simpler times. Scattered cattle and plains as far as the eye could see. Some animals even came close enough to say hi to my dog, who kept a respectful distance. A very pretty and peaceful place.
THE HOME
The place that we stayed in was a traditionally built, old-fashioned house with a reed roof. I can’t believe that I didn’t take a picture from outside, but apparently I really did not. You will have to take my word for it that it looked very old but cute.
Downstairs there was a small kitchen and bathroom area, and a small staircase leading upstairs to the bedroom area. I was surprised but my dog took the stairs in stride. Depending on your pup, you might want to consider whether this would work though.

On the upper floor, there were two single beds, as well as a couch and seating area. There were also a lot of artefacts from the host’s travels through the world. While that was cool to see, I must admit I was worried about inadvertently breaking something of great emotional value.

I have to admit, the house was not the cleanest. There were also a number of spiders and webs around, but I guess in such an old building there are cracks and crevices everywhere so I understand that this kind of comes with the territory. But overall the cleanliness, also of the bathroom, could be improved.
THE SERVICE
There was no service at the holiday home, but the owners were very kind indeed. The house also had everything necessary for self-catering.
THE VALUE
We ended up paying just 121 EUR for two nights, which was really good value. While the cleanliness can definitely be improved, the house had everything that we needed and it was in a gorgeous location with very kind hosts. At this price, I must say I can’t fault it.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Overall, this was a good stay. Given the very good value, I would rate this holiday home as a 4 out of 5. With improvements in cleanliness it could earn full marks.
