A trip with my dog to Sentier du Petit Prince in the Calanques of Cassis

In April of 2022, I took the first trip with my dog to visit the Calanques area. I chose to walk along the Sentier du Petit Prince on the Port-Miou peninsula.

If you need a place to stay with your dog in Cassis, I can recommended the apartment that we stayed at. You can find my review here. Should you wish to spend more time in the area, I can also recommend this slightly more strenuous hike through the Calanque de Port-Miou towards Port Pin and finally the beach at the Calanque d’En-Vau.

THE ROUTE

If you come by car, you can park at this parking lot but beware that it is paid and costs 10 euros for the day. A little steep, but it is located right at the start of the Sentier du Petit Prince, named after the famous Little Prince novel by Antoine de St Exupéry.

The route along the Sentier du Petit Prince takes you along the peninsula of Port-Miou. Seeing all the little boats at the port was quite pretty, and as you walk further out onto the peninsula you get some beautiful views of the Calanques area.

HOW LONG IT TAKES AND WHO IT’S FOR

The walk along the Sentier du Petit Prince took us around 45 minutes. It is pretty easy terrain, especially compared to other hikes around the Calanques and a good first taste of the beauty of the area. Although the terrain is a bit rocky, it is not too strenuous for most people.

THE BOTTOM LINE

This is a nice walk to take with your dog in the Calanques area. The views are beautiful and the route is quite easy and short so it can also be done with younger children.
